Rugved Barguje, a Std VIII student of Rosary International School, Warje, Pune, recently won the Sri Lankan junior motocross championship.

He was invited to participate at the Asian level contests in Malaysia and Indonesia. Currently, he ranks fifth at the Asian level. Rugved was declared the junior champion at the national level at an award ceremony recently. He finished first in all six rounds held in six different states.

Rugved, who started his training in motocross from the age of two, credits his success to his father and mentor Dnyaneshwar Barguje, a Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner in motocross. "My father and family members who have been in this sport are my inspiration. My father has put in tremendous efforts, so this achievement is just a small return. The tournament was a great experience indeed," Rugved said.
