This morning, i.e. 2nd December 2009, was a pleasant one with a news which will change the face of Indian education system thoroughly.

I am pleased with the education minister so much that I could hug him right away :).

There is no doubt a gap that’s undeserving and uncalled for which has been for years overlooked by various boards. CBSE has always been the choice board for all those who wished to appear for common entrance exams in India at the national level. The course grills the students to not only prepare for the CBSE / AISSCE (All Indian Secondary School Certificate Examination) but also is proudly known to be at par with the national level common entrance exams for engineering, medical, business administration etc. Hence always students from other boards would yearn to join a CBSE school/ college atleast after Xth std, but find it extremely difficult for cope up with the methodologies and structure of the course.

Now with this step, the unnecessary stress on the students of non CBSE boards will be allayed. Though the COBSE (Council of Boards of School Education) in India has decided at this point to not make it mandatory for schools to opt for this changed course.

In my opinion, all boards have their plus points. The new common board must aim at amalgamation of the best of all boards.
The CBSE board is comprehensive and deals with vast knowledge areas, whereas ICSE makes excellent communication skills which has become number one need for any successful individual in this competitive world.
International Boards, if also accounted will be able to provide the practical approach towards fundamentals with hands on experiments as early as in class Nursery.

The love of state language and paced out structure of State Boards will be a dream once the new board is adopted by State Board schools. But that will be with all other boards too, as no more focus on only one part of the brain allowed my dear students. If you are born with a complete brain including left and right sides, you had better be good at polishing both ends to meet your ends in future effectively.

I am excited just with the news of this idea running into our bureaucrats grey cells. May the spark light the country and show the world the true source of the genesis of the intellectual knowledge.
