Pregnant and Hunted - Dark Trade of Infant Organs
By Madhurie Singh, April 15, 2025

Imagine you’re preparing to welcome a child into the world. You’ve chosen a hospital, met your doctor, and packed your bags. But what if the place you trust to bring your child into the world is also the one that could take that life away? This is not fiction. It’s happening. And not in faraway, war-torn countries. It’s happening in places with glistening hospital corridors, smiling doctors, and seemingly caring clinics. This is the hidden, horrifying world of infant organ trafficking. When I watched a documentary on this topic which was randomly suggested by YouTube, I took it as the message from the universe to write an article about it and warn pregnant women and parents with infants. So don’t think it’s some gimmick to make you read this article.
And this isn’t fiction. It’s happening. And not in faraway, war-torn countries. It’s happening in places with glistening hospital corridors, smiling doctors, and seemingly caring clinics. This is the hidden, horrifying world of infant organ trafficking.
A Grim Reality in China
For years, reports have emerged from China of systematic organ harvesting involving political prisoners, Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghur Muslims, and other minority groups. But recently, more sinister whispers have emerged — those involving newborns. According to testimonies from whistleblowers and human rights investigations, women —often trafficked from other countries or forced into surrogacy—are being kept in hidden clinics, monitored through heavily controlled pregnancies, only to have their newborns taken immediately after birth. These infants are never registered. They don’t exist on paper. Within hours of birth, they are stripped of life—and organs.
Key Reports and Investigations
United Nations Human Rights Council (2021) expressed grave concern over forced organ harvesting in China. The China Tribunal (2019), an independent people’s tribunal, concluded beyond reasonable doubt that China has been harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience. Survivor Testimonies:
A nurse who fled China reported delivering infants in secretive military hospitals where none of the babies were seen again. While official responses deny these accusations, the volume of corroborated accounts and deliberate opacity makes it hard to dismiss. This isn’t just a human rights violation—it’s a horror story unfolding in real time. While writing it also I want to throw up!
Why Indian Mothers Must Stay Alert
India has its own chilling tales. Women from impoverished areas, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, are being preyed upon. Traffickers often pose as healthcare workers or recruiters, luring women with offers of money or medical care.Case 1: The Mohali Infant Trafficking Racket In 2023, a couple in Mohali was caught with multiple infants. Investigation revealed a larger network, where babies were sold or used for organ harvesting. The parents were told the child was stillborn.Case 2: The Amritsar Organ Ring One of India’s largest organ trafficking cases involved illegal kidney transplants and suspicious child deaths. Authorities uncovered documents showing forged death certificates and bribed mortuary staff.Case 3: Kerala International Surrogacy Scam A police crackdown in 2024 revealed women from Nepal and Bangladesh being brought into India, forced into pregnancy, and kept in small clinics with no access to outside help. Some never saw their babies again.
How These Racketeers Operate
1. Fake Stillbirths: After delivery, parents are told the baby was stillborn. No documentation is provided, and the baby is quickly disposed of—or harvested.2. Unregistered Births: In unauthorized clinics, babies are delivered off-record, making them invisible to authorities.3. Surrogacy Abuse: Poor women are offered money for surrogacy. Their pregnancies are closely monitored in controlled environments. Once the baby is born, they’re told it’s taken by “intended parents,” but in some cases, the baby disappears.4. Kidnappings Disguised as Adoptions: Some babies are abducted and passed through illegal adoption channels, only to vanish.
Warning Signs and Red Flags
- Hospitals refusing to show the baby or body after birth.
- No death certificate or vague medical explanations.
- Sudden transfer of the mother to a different, unknown clinic.
- Excessive secrecy or restrictions during labor and delivery.
- Surrogacy clinics offering unusually high payments.
What Indian Mothers Can Do
1. Choose Government-Approved Hospitals: Always check the accreditation and reviews of the facility.
2. Stay Accompanied: Never go alone to checkups or delivery. Have a trusted person present at all times.
3. Document Everything: Keep copies of medical records, scans, prescriptions, and hospital visits.
4. Demand Paperwork: Insist on getting birth or death certificates. No hospital can deny it legally.
5. Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off—leave and report.
