It was a warm Tuesday morning in March when I left my home in Kalyani Nagar with a clear purpose — to find out the truth about PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Lohegaon. I’ve read the praises online and heard local buzz, but as a concerned and curious parent, I needed to see the school for myself. What followed was a surprisingly insightful journey.

Route and Travel Experience

Start Point: Kalyani Nagar, Pune

Distance: Approx. 13.5 km

Travel Time: Around 40–50 minutes during school hours.

Google Maps Route: Nagar Road > Viman Nagar > Lohegaon Road

Expect moderate traffic until Viman Nagar; roads after that are relatively smooth. Last 3 km stretch has narrow lanes; plan buffer time.

School lies inside Air Force Station Lohegaon, so entry is controlled.

Students undergo regular drills, theory sessions, and participate in camps, parades, and inter-school competitions organized by the NCC Pune Group Headquarters. It not only strengthens character but also enhances eligibility for future careers in the armed forces, civil services, and reputed colleges that give NCC cadets preference. Very few CBSE-affiliated schools offer this enriching experience, making KV No.1 a rare gem in the city.
