Rich parents usurping seats of poor people

By Madhurie Singh, May 01, 2016

Sic! When rich parents pay Rs 5 to 10 lakhs to get admissions under EWS quota, something is seriously wrong in our country.

Many parents, who are really well to do but belong to SC/ST/BC/OC also availing EWS seats even thought they are no more economically weak. Infact many are double income couples working in IT companies at Hinjewadi and other IT parks in Pune.

How selfish and non compassionate?

Since 25% seats in all schools are reserved for Economically weaker seaction (parents who earn less than Rs 1Lac per yr).

How the lottery was carried out? In a peculiar instance, they arranged for chits bearing the names of rich kids to be kept in a refrigerator for a significant period. The aim was to avoid any suspicion in a seemingly blind draw of lots by the school management, while making it easy to identify by touch which of the chits needed to be picked up.
Puneeta in Delhi, was caught charging anywhere between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh from well-to-do parents for securing admission for their kids under the EWS quota.  How she managed the proof needed?

A fake income certificate can be manipulated at an SDM’s office for Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. A broker outside the SDM’s office pointed to a tout who promised a certificate without any documents within a week, when the actual process takes nearly three weeks. Most of the agents and touts are behind the bar.

If you are one of those who is usurping the seat you do not deserve or need any more, come to the senses and give it to the needy. You will be blessed for educating a child. A friend of mine who is a Christian is doing very well but always ensures that the seat benefits he is entitled to does not go into wring hands. Instead, he finds a student who needs it and ensures the school takes him into the school giving him all the benefits that this Christian friend is entitiled to. Be like him.
