Tulsi is so good for humans that people in ancient India wanted to ensure that each family owned one plant and ate the leaves daily. So they used what works the fastest with humans. Fear and God. They knew that the since Tulsi is so amazing and useful, that its worth praying like a Goddess, each morning.
The Tulsi leaves were given as prasad to all the family members and it was consumed empty stomach with mishri. Slowly, people stopped consuming its leaves. They instead continued to treat Tulsi plant as a Goddess. Ladies continue to pray and pour jal but do not eat or give the leaves to the family members any more. Why?
This happens when tradition is passed on without its real reason or meaning is taught to the younger generation. Tulsi leaves have medicinal properties for stomach, heart, skin and blood. Click on the link below to read all values.
The seeds are called subja that cool body. Do you recall those tiny black jelly like things with kulfi falooda!
The roots are so healthy that its part of many Ayurvedic medicines.
Now with such a load of medicinal value and prevention of stress, stomach ailments, purer blood and better heart, I had to get a Tulsi plant at home.
And no, Madhurie Singh is not going to do the agarbatti routine because she truly believes in Tulsi plant properties without any superstition attached.
Since its value is very clear to me, I don’t need to be scared by God or religion to respect and start consuming Tulsi leaves for my own good health.
I am starting very slowly by giving one leaf and lots of mishri to the kids. Slowly the number of leaves will increase. Mishri is crystalline cane sugar which is formed very slowly and is less sweet compared to refined sugar.
Now that you know why I got a Tulsi plant at home, when will you bring one home?
I read in a few superstitious articles that keeping a Tulsi plant will bring Lakshmi home and keep the negativity away.
Of course it will keep the Goddess Lakshmi from going out of the home as your family members will not have to spend money on medicines! And when all are healthy, there will be happiness with positive energies flowing in the house. So understand the superstition and follow all recommended action. Don’t just follow the part that is connected with God or religion. Both God and religion are used are the biggest medium to teach what is best for you but never want you to neglect the valuable message in the act.
Added on 12th July 2016: Tulsi is a natural Ozonizer and helps to clean the air from the pollutants. There was a study done by a group of scientists and Ayurved experts to see how it can be used. After they revealed its anti pollutant property, Tulsi was planted around Taj Mahal to clean the air around it clean and prevent the damage caused by chemicals and pollution. It was also suggested that Tulsi must be planted in the dividers on the city roads to clean the air.
Tulsi keeps mosquitoes away too.
A tip. Buy a bushy Tulsi plant and not a tiny single stem.
